{"id":21,"date":"2024-03-12T01:40:31","date_gmt":"2024-03-12T01:40:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/orthobasicscienceacademy.org\/course\/?page_id=21"},"modified":"2026-02-15T18:11:56","modified_gmt":"2026-02-15T22:11:56","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/orthobasicscienceacademy.org\/course\/about\/","title":{"rendered":"About"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Welcome to 2025-2026 course attendees!<\/strong><br>We look forward to seeing you at the course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Virtual Course Format<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Canadian Orthopaedic Association Basic Science Course has transitioned permanently to a virtual format and has been divided into four modules spread over&nbsp;<strong>two&nbsp;years<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2025-2026 Course Dates:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Module 1 (Basic Science of Basic Science) &#8211; October 9, 2025<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Module 2 (Non-Neoplastic Conditions) &#8211; April 16, 2026<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Module 3 (Orthopaedic Biomechanics) &#8211;<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>October (day to be determined) 2026 &#8211;<\/strong>\u00a0Registration will open in Summer 2026<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Module 4 (Neoplasia\/Tumour) &#8211;<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>April (<strong>day to be determined<\/strong>) 2027 &#8211;<\/strong>\u00a0Registration will open in Summer 2026<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Program and commitment details:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Videos:<\/strong>&nbsp;The residents will be responsible for viewing the academic videos that will accompany the lectures and discussion groups. The access instructions for the videos will be sent to completed registrants.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Day of:<\/strong>&nbsp;There will be a morning lecture for the cohort as a whole, followed by 5 additional lectures\/discussions for smaller groups in breakout rooms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Each session&nbsp;<\/strong>will be 40 minutes in length: a brief high yield<strong>&nbsp;summary<\/strong>&nbsp;of key points from the instructor\u2019s video (5-10 minutes); the remaining 30 minutes will be an interactive session of cases and\/or multiple-choice questions. &nbsp;Each session will be followed by a 5-minute buffer\/break.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Session format:<\/strong>&nbsp;To enhance the residents\u2019 experience, as well as that of the faculty, we will divide the attendees into 6 breakout rooms\/groups.
