New Course Format!

The Canadian Orthopaedic Association Basic Science Course has transitioned permanently to a virtual format and has been divided into four modules spread over two years.

Program and commitment details

The COA Basic Science Course is a combination of self-study using foundational videos mixed with virtual group sessions in which content is reinforced using a variety of instructor led techniques.

Videos

The residents will be responsible for viewing the academic videos that will accompany the lectures and discussion groups. The access instructions for the videos will be sent to completed registrants.

Day of

There will be a morning lecture for the cohort as a whole, followed by 5 additional lectures/discussions for smaller groups in breakout rooms.

Why Register?

What does the COA Basic Science Course offer and how do I benefit? Here are some reasons for attending that you might want to consider.

Teaching

I am part way through my residency and am having trouble “putting it all together”.

This course was designed just for you. The fundamental concept is to understand what really happens to the musculoskeletal system in health and in disease states.

Tools

  • Core information is presented in didactic lectures; whenever possible, clinical relevance is established;
  • Lecture material is linked to the website.  This allow you access the content for personal study.
  • The course content includes foundational videos that are presented in a self taught format
  • Clinical case seminars are presented.  These sessions allow you to problem solve in a group setting and present your solutions to the rest of the participants.
